Feeding Your Puppy

Feeding Your Puppy

Puppies grow fast.
What you feed now shapes their future.

Choose high-quality ingredients

  • Real meat, not meat by-products

  • Vegetables, herbs, and natural oils

  • Clear ingredients you recognise

Look for puppy-specific food

Puppies need more calories, protein, and fat than adults.

  • Make sure their food is made for growth

  • Feed little and often (3–4 meals a day until 6 months)

  • Transition to adult food gradually at 12 months

Treats count too

You’ll be doing a lot of training, and that means lots of treats.

  • Keep them soft, healthy, and easy to chew

  • Use tiny pieces so you don’t overfeed

  • Balance treat calories with meal portions

Support their gut

A healthy gut helps with immunity, mood, and development.

  • Add natural probiotics like kefir or plain yoghurt

  • Include fibre from vegetables

  • Avoid unnecessary fillers and artificial additives

Watch and adapt

Every puppy is different.

  • Is their poo firm and regular?

  • Are they itchy or gassy?

  • Do they have steady energy?

Make small changes and watch how they respond.

From a dog trainer's view

Puppies need food they can learn from.

I use natural, simple treats to reward calmness, recall, and focus.
They work better, feel better, and support their development.

Training starts in the bowl.
